Dr. Keith N. Haffer is president of Advantage Bio Consultants, Inc., a consulting firm based in Garretson, South Dakota. He received his  BA degree  from Boston University and the MS and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He then was a postdoctoral associate at Purdue University (Departments of Food and Nutrition and College of Veterinary Medicine) in the areas of cellular immunity and herpesvirus diagnostics.  For 15 years, he held pivotal management positions with increasing responsibilities in multi-national organizations. He is internationally recognized for his work with Rabies, Feline Leukemia Virus, Herpesviruses and Encephalitic Viruses.

He has led multi-disciplinary teams and organizations to obtain forty seven (47) USDA licenses and fifty-five (55) international registrations for livestock (cattle, pigs, sheep and goats), horses, pets (dogs, cats and ferrets) and poultry (chickens and turkeys). Most recently, Dr. Haffer has been involved with the US biodefense initiatives, in association with commercial and governmental agencies, and  Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (in vitro and in vivo diagnostics, validated removal methods and raw material certifications).

His target areas in consulting are project management, scientific evaluation, compliance, enhanced applications of BSL-2 and BSL-3 agents and ABSL-2. His clients include both US-based and international organizations, both in the  public and private sectors. The clients range from Fortune 50 companies through start-up biotechnology ventures.

His business experience includes: Co-founder of Advantage Bio Consultants, Inc.; SmithKline Beecham; TechAmerica (Biologics) Corporation; and Sanofi (S.A.). His activities have ranged from Scientific Management to Strategic Planning to Marketing. His additional qualifications include author of numerous articles and invited speaker at national and international veterinary-related meetings. He has also served on the Board of Directors of ImmuCell Corporation.

His consulting activities relate to optimization of productivity; project management; strategic planning, new technology implementation and commercialization and Quality Assurance and validation.
